Captivated by the beauty of timber,
the endless variation
of pattern and colour in the grain,
Matt is compelled
to make furniture that celebrates this
once living material.

Dashingwood Furniture is an Australian studio based in Bellingen, NSW.
It is an expression of Matt’s love of timber in all its forms,
combining effortless, contemporary design alongside the warm tones
and textures of natural materials.

Trained in traditional furniture making techniques at ANU’s School of Art Furniture Workshop in Canberra, Matt brings over 25 years of making experience to the bench. With a strong belief that furniture should be built to last, he is committed to creating furniture using responsibly sourced quality material. Each project is designed with consideration for proportion, weight and balance to arrive at a finished piece which draws the eye but sits comfortably in the home.

“What does responsibly sourced timber mean
to you?”

Working with timber from sustainably harvested sources is an important part of the process. Working with a network of local suppliers to find the best quality timber for your project means you can feel good about knowing where your product comes from.

Materials for each project are sourced locally from salvaged and portable milled timber; the variation of growing conditions and availability of different timbers makes each collection piece unique to the time and place it is created.

Available timbers are regularly updated and each piece is customisable to suit your needs.
